National AI Literacy Day is a nationwide day of action focused on exploring the fundamental questions, “What is AI?” and “How do we prepare learners for an AI-enabled world?”  (quote provided by National AI Literacy Day)

AI Literacy Day @ Texas A&M will feature a full day of events and learning opportunities for:

Educators
Discover how AI can enhance your teaching effectiveness, save valuable time, and improve student outcomes through human-centered approaches. Access curriculum resources, lesson plans, and hands-on activities that are searchable by education level, subject, lesson time, and category.

Students
Explore AI as a helpful tool for learning and creativity while developing critical thinking about technology's role in our lives. Engage in learning and activities that spark curiosity about the capabilities and limitations of AI.

Staff
Discover how AI can streamline and enhance your professional tasks at Texas A&M University. This section highlights practical applications of AI in administrative processes and provides resources and tools for faculty and staff to incorporate AI into their daily workflow. Student AI Resource Fair

Pop-in event for students offering handouts, activities, and an opportunity to talk w/staff and campus organizations about using and learning with AI at Texas A&M. Free doughnuts and pastries! 

AI Model Selection Discussion

Open-source foundation models are evolving fast, and choosing the “right” one for your task can feel overwhelming. AI Literacy means picking the right tool for your intended task. This panel demystifies model selection with a practical, campus-focused lens. We’ll highlight resources available through Chat.TAMU.AI and leading open-source families (e.g., Llama, Mistral, Qwen, Phi, DeepSeek, and others) and unpack the trade-offs.

Teaching AI Literacy: A Faculty Panel

What is AI Literacy, and how do we teach it?  This facilitated panel discussion will share strategies for defining AI literacy for students’ learning needs and structuring the course curriculum to teach critical AI literacy skills.

Lunch & Learn: Building AI Literacy for Faculty

During this fun, interactive lunch session, faculty will build AI literacy skills by examining how generative AI fits within the broader AI ecosystem and by considering its common limitations and ethical implications. Participants will also develop AI literacy skills by learning how to effectively craft generative AI input to maximize output.  Come experiment in a collaborative environment and discover the many possible uses of generative AI for faculty. Free lunch sponsored by University Libraries.

AI in the Classroom: Ally or Adversary?

Join us for a candid discussion on the intersection of generative AI and academic integrity. This panel, featuring both TAMU students and faculty, will explore the challenges and opportunities of AI in the classroom. We'll address key questions, share perspectives, and discuss community guidance to foster a shared understanding of ethical use of AI in the classroom. Door prizes and refreshments available. 

Using Generative AI in the Performance Management Process

Learn how generative AI tools like Copilot can help you prepare for the annual performance review period. Discover how AI assists in organizing documentation, goal setting, and conversation planning, while keeping evaluations human-driven. Boost your preparation skills and maximize the effectiveness of your performance evaluations!
